Finished the first draft of my HWAA long story entry last night. Just over 2,500 words. Kinda short. Although I prefer the term "punchy".
I think I like it. It's a completely realistic horror story, but there's this undercurrent to it, a hint of the supernatural.
But the subject matter - backpackers in trouble - might be a little too close to The Beach. I'm not sure. I haven't read The Beach. (And yet, for some strange reason I've read The Tesseract.) I've given it to a friend, to see what he thinks.
So. First draft written. Pleased with myself. That's all.
