We saw a tour poster Friday night on our way to the Psyche gig. I was stunned. [profile] andricongirl was all "oh yeah, I've seen those posters around."

Thanks for telling me, sweetie. They're only one of my favourite bands.

And sure, it's at the appalling Festival Hall. But as if that will stop me from hearing American Jesus live.

Punk rock! With a PhD!*

* Seriously. Singer Greg Graffin teaches life sciences at UCLA.

His Phd Thesis was called "Monism, Atheism and the Naturalist Worldview: Perspectives from Evolutionary Biology", which gives you an idea of why Bad Religion are sometimes described as thesaurus punk.

I've had an idea for a zombie movie.

The problem with most zombie movies is that it's pretty clear you don't want to turn into said zombies. They shamble. They drool. They dress badly and smell worse. We won't even get in to their table manners.

But what if being a zombie was actually a good thing? What if the reason zombies shuffled wasn't because their muscles and neurons are rotting away, but because their eyes are closed in the melancholy bliss of the indie music fan?

What if you became a zombie by listening to The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights"  one too many times (see post earlier), and it just took over your brain?

Imagine it. The climax of the movie: our hero runs down a deserted city street. But then, behind him, a crowd comes over the hill. Their eyes are closed, their hand cradle the headphones over their ears, and as one they sing quietly to themselves:

I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images and when we kiss
They're perfectly aligned...

The best part about this movie is that it's based on real life events. My life.
