Parts, part II
Jul. 6th, 2005 09:43 pmContinuing the saga of my misbehaving computer screen...
Installed the new card. Everything is working beautifully. Screen not only has stopped blacking out, but is brighter and clearer than it has been in ages.
I think I know what the problem with the old card was - the filters over the fans were clogged with dust. I tried to gently scrape the dust off, but the filter sponge started to come off with it.
The fans look like they may unscrew. Does anyone know anything about replacing them? Where I might get new ones? If it's even doable?
The old video card has more grunt to it than my old Pentium 100. Be a shame to just throw it away because of some dirty filters.
For the geeks amongst you:
The old card is a LeadTek GeForce 4 A50 TD Ti 4400 128MB
The new one is an AGP GeForce 2 MX400 64MB

Date: 2005-07-06 04:47 am (UTC)I do. The usual places. Yes. Respectively :)
So long as you know the size of the fan, you should be able to pick up one from a standard supplier and/or swap meet. It's no different, and perhaps easier, than doing the same to a CPU fan.
