I was reading an interview on Salon recently in which the interviewee stated that if you wanted to be really good at something, to be world class standard, it takes 10,000 hours of practice. That's 3 years of ten hour days, five or six days a week.

I should have practiced guitar more when I was younger.

And I seem to have a weird corollary to the 10,000 hour rule: if I practise for more than 3 hours straight, I will write a song. Not always a good song, but a song.

Lyrics are another matter. My notebooks are filled with first verses, choruses, and an expectant blank where the rest of the song should go.

Not that I need more songs. I've easily got 15 songs to fill an album with. I just need the gear to record them with. Currently estimating my home recording setup will cost about $5000-$6000, and will be purchased mid-August.

In other news...
A stupid cold is sapping my energy.
Family commitments mean I will miss Dark Traum 4.
And after reading CD reviews on Opi8.com I just know I'm gonna splurge on CDs.
