Gave in. Installed Morrowind.

It's beautiful. And frustrating as all hell.

I don't like First-Person computer games. Sure, I get to see all those beautiful textures close up.

But I also have the field-of-view of a blinkered horse. And I keep getting stuck behind chairs. Nothing kills the suspension of disbelief quicker than having my lithe, agile thief suddenly halt because she couldn't side-step a peice of furniture.

Persevering at it. But sorely tempted to just re-install Neverwinter Nights and download a decent module.

Ah, I'm just being grumpy.

I keep accidentally clicking on objects to see what they are, and then someone pummels me to death for being a thief.

Sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to bad mouth your present.

And I am still playing it. Just got to get over the first learning curve.

But... you can play it as a third-person game. Check the control layout. There should be a hotkey for switching perspective.

Actually, it should be the Tab key. One press switches perspective, and if you keep your finger on it you get vanity mode. In VM you can see your character from all angles with the mouse, and zoom in and out with the mouse wheel.

Yeah. Found that. Improves movement significantly.

This is probably why I hate to drive.

No, no. It'll be second nature before long. It's the first PC game I ever played and I really had to learn the ropes - even took a little while to learn to fight, but the instinct for the world happens speedily. Now even I'm dashing about like a pro.
Don't give up!

I don't actually plan on giving up on it.

I'm just whinging, because a) I know I have more productive things I should be doing, and b) deep down, I resent that procrastination now has a learning curve.

Completely off topic, but...

Completely off topic, but...

I got a request from Ruth Harland, asking for your e-mail address. Which I don't actually have.

If you'd like, you could send it to me at
davidw (at) gothic . net . au
and I'll forward Ruth's address on to you.
