A Note

Dear Insomnia-

My parents tried their best to raise me properly. If I received a gift, for example, they insisted I send the giver a thank you note.

That's what this is, Insomnia. A thank you note.

Because you gave me your special gift again last night. Which meant I was wide awake at 3 am. Which is when I have my best ideas.

I've been stuck on the novel. The 1990s band stuff flowed out like honey from a crumpet. But the modern-day ghost bits-- I had characters, and themes, and broad philosophical ideas. I just didn't have a plot.

And then: 3 am last night, it all clicks perfectly in to place. And I'm left thinking "Oh. Of course that's what happens."

And then, just because you're awesome, you gave me the plot outline for a completely different book as well. About punks who run a second-hand bookstore.

So thank you. This is wonderfully generous of you.

It's just... I have to go back to work tomorrow. So could you please fuck off?

Thanks. There's a lot more to it than just that. But you've got to keep something up your sleeve. (I came up with the title this morning. It's a killer.) And I've got to finish the current novel before I can start on the next one.

*sigh* It's either drought or deluge.

And on a geeky note: interesting to see you've got OpenID working. Lots of people were complaining it doesn't work. (I don't actually care if you comment here or on LJ, by the way. I joined DreamWidth for my own reasons, but I'm not going to get all shouty at people about it.)

Of course! It's not worth the reading if you get all the plot before you read the story!

It took a bit of hack work, but I got it going. Already had one working with google, so it wasn't too much of a stretch. I actually have a DW account... I just don't use it. Your post in lj say to comment here, so I did. I figure that the open id works for me, so I don't mind using it.
I looked at everyone's reason for swapping and figure that currently, I'm too tired and don't have the time to think about changing over. I have enough trouble finding time to post, let alone change...
