I have never heard of the Horror Writers Association of Australia until today. But it seems that they're running a short story competition, and I'm keen to enter.

Especially the flash fiction category. I've read too many flash fictions that rely on vagueness to achieve their final twist. I want to write something concrete.

What's flash fiction?

Really short short stories. In this case, 1000 words or less.

Ah.

(I'd originally read it as 'slash fiction' and thought 'they have a contest category for that?').

There was quite a presence of HWA at Continuum last year. Judging by the Guests for this year's Con they'll be out in force I'm sure.

If you do it, will you maybe post it (or some of it)?

The entry conditions state they don't accept works that have already been published. LJ is probably strectching the definition of "published" to extremes, but why risk it?

I will be happy to e-mail you a copy, when I've got something written.
