Right

Finished transcribing the Neil Gaiman interview this morning. Six and a half thousand words, which have to be boiled down to a thousand word article. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] andricongirl, who did half the transcription for me.

So, in case I do this interviewing thing again, here's some advice to myself: Research like a mutherfucker. Write a detailed list of questions. Then throw the list away and just talk.

You want to know your subject. You want to know what you want to ask. But you don't want the interview to be all stiff question-answer-question-answer.

Also - talk slowly, and keep your questions short.

And finally- get your subject to describe their latest work in 25 words or less. It's cheesy, I know, but quotes like that are really useful.
