I know you lot are open minded. So you'll be understanding when I take a deep breath and admit...

I'm now bi.

Yes. It's finally happened. I picked up my 12" iBook this morning. And it's so tiny and cute, how could I not fall in love?

Some people will say it's just a phase. That I'm just being trendy. But I'm commited to this relationship. I know there will be problems. I know there will be a lot of adjusting to be done. But I'm ready for it.

And whatever people think, I still love my big black Windows box. We'll all work together to make this into something beautiful.

Now I just have to tell my parents.

I'm trying to decide whether its just me being touchy, or whether I find that post genuinely flippant.

(I've been thinking about how I may *have* to talk to my parents, which may quite plausibly lead to being disowned, or not being able to see my siblings, hence the touchy).

Macs are awesome (Linux even better). I was going to get a PowerBook a little while back (more with the shiny, but don't come with the space dinosaur game (which, by the way, wtf?).

It's not offensive or anything... just, I guess sexuality is not quite that much of a non-issue yet (wish that it was).

Well, I certainly didn't mean to upset anyone. But if people can make jokes about the London Bombings, I can make dumb jokes about technophillia.

I was tempted by the shininess of a PowerBook. But in the end I just couldn't justify the cost. As for Linux - I've always been interested. The problem is, I don't know what I would *do* with it.At home, my computer usage revolves heavily around Word and Photoshop. I just don't have a *use* for Linux. Sure, i can install OpenOffice on it. But I can't justify the time fucking around with a whole new operating system just to do what I can I alreaady just fine.

I hope the thing with your parents turns out well.

People seem to get Linux if their other operating system is either too buggy to be useful, and/or it won't let them do things in what they consider the sensible way of doing things. Because Linux is both extremely stable and very customisable. I also like the desktop; a lot more simple and less cluttered than either Mac or Windows (and having multiple desktops can be handy).
But if you don't fall into either of those categories it might not be worth getting.

Thanks- I don't think turning out well is something I can aim for, so I was gonna go with delay as long as possible. Not the best strategy all things considered. And it's just kinda sad (okay, that's a major understatement).
