Amanda Palmer, singer/pianist with the Dresden Dolls, has a sexy neck.

Which is good. Because that's about all we saw of her during her solo show at the Famous Spiegeltent.

The Spiegeltent, for those that haven't seen it, is like a cross between a circus tent and a cabaret nightclub. Inside it's all red curtains, mirrored pillars, and wooden booths. We got in late, and ended up in the leftmost booth, very close to the stage, but directly behind the grand piano that Palmer played for most of the show.

So we didn't really get to see her. But we could hear her, and her raw, feral, beautiful voice.

She played a mix of Dresden Dolls songs ("Coin Operated Boy", "Half Jack"), a Jason Webley cover ("Icarus") and some songs from her forthcoming solo album Who Killed Amanda Palmer.

Accompanying her were the Danger Ensemble, a sort of cabaret-mime performance troupe. As

p_cat put it: "It was like my scary clown phobia, but with no pants!"

It was great show, even from our position. She's got such a ragged, slightly psychotic charisma. And the Spiegeltent is the perfect venue for her whole Wiemar Berlin-meets-punk aesthetic.

As an encore, Amanda and the Danger Ensemble lip-synched a dance routine to Rhianna's "Umbrella", before Amanda closed the show with a ukulele version of Radiohead's "Creep."
