Nine Inch Nails have a new album out.

No. Not Ghosts. A completely different new album. Yes, that the second new album this year.

It's called The Slip. It's not a big instrumental experiment like Ghosts -- it's a much more traditional NIN album. Distorted guitars, angsty lyrics.

And Trent's giving it away for free.

I listened to the video clip on YouTube (the one with the animated village people) and I wasn't immediately grabbed.

Have you listened to the whole thing yet?

I haven't listened to it properly yet.

It's not a radical step forward for Trent. Musically, it sounds quite similar to With Teeth. A bit rawer, maybe. Lyrically it's back to the angst and gloom, which is a bit of let down after the more outward focused/political focus of Year Zero.

I'll post a proper review after I've given it a decent listen.
