Going to the State Library after work tonight to get a couple more hours on the novel.

I'm getting impatient. I don't mind doing the work required to finish this one off. I just wish I had the time.

It doesn't help that I keep daydreaming about the next ones.

Here, a little inspiration:

Abelardo Morell - Down the Rabbit-Hole, 1998

Oh, that one? I thought she was blond? My memory sucks.

She has been blonde, yes.

She also played Miss Evangelista in "Silence in the Library".

Did you see Tom Stoppard's play Rock and Roll? Barret plays a minor, and mostly metaphorical, part in it.

Is that inspiration for your next novel?

Said without snark or sarcasm: Are you going to be the magic band guy? Cause just looking at those images and thinking for a minute, some cool ideas start gliding in.

*One* of my next novels. I have a sheet of paper with the ideas for nine more on it.

Three are historical murder mysteries set in 1865 Melbourne. Three are a YA fantasy trilogy. And three are my "Weird Melbourne" bohemian-punk gothic romances.

But yes, there's an element of marketing going on here. If anyone actually publishes my rock and roll ghost story, it's probably a good idea if the follow-up keeps the rock and roll theme going.

Could not three historical murder mysteries set in 1865 Melbourne be combined into one definitive historical murder mystery set in 1865 Melbourne? :)

I admire the ambition of nine novels. I'm still trying to squeeze one out of this husk of a brain.

They could. But where's the fun in that? Also boring stuff, like the three novels having different themes. And murderers.

I didn't plan to plan out nine novels. The stupid ideas just kept coming at me. When you're on, you're on. I'm not goingt o turn down gifts from the Muses.

Six months from now my brain will switch back to its off setting, and I won't write a word for then next year.
