The London Blasts
Jul. 8th, 2005 10:06 amIt was 10 years ago last April that I visited London. A beautiful city, full of quirks and history and really bad take-away joints. And I was rereading Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman's love letter to her, just before the news told us about the blasts.
38 dead, Hundreds injured. Jesus.
Tony Blair looked shaken but resolute as he gave his statement from Gleneagles. "It's important however that those engaged in terrorism realise that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world."
The G8 summit will continue. There even appears to have a been a slight softening to America's position on climate change and cutting emissions.
Any news on the G8 rioters? Are they still acting like retarded football louts? Or have they finally shown some rudimentary flicker of intelligence?
