Went back to Tai Chi on Thursday, after missing four weeks due to flu. Surprised by how little the class had learnt in my absence. Still good to be back.

[livejournal.com profile] andricongirl DJ'ed at Aeon. I came down with stomach cramps. And thus continued my long tradition of missing her sets because I'm sick. Sorry, sweetie.

Three months ago I tried to install a fancy new soundcard my computer. This triggered off a chain of disasters. I couldn't even reinstall the operating system for many, many weeks. The computer now works again. But I am still sifting through the wreckage, seeing what I have backups of, and what I don't.

Currently missing in action:
  • two short stories (one recoverable from Opi8.com, the other possibly in e-mail archives somewhere)

  • several Cubase songs (recreateable)

  • various files from my Lord of the Rings role-playing chronicle, including the writeup of the last session (will have to recreate from memory)

  • a rather useful file breaking down story structures for RPGs (will have to recreate from scratch)

Am supposed to be writing. Keep getting side-tracked and writing Buffy scripts.

I like writing scripts. I like to conciseness of them. And the Buffy character are fun to write. They have such clear and witty voices.

But... someone shoot me. Please. I don't want to turn into a fanfic-er.

We missed you last night! Hope you are feeling bettera though. :)

As for the fanfic ... *highly educated medical voice* if you're writing scripts, I'm afraid that its already too late to save you. The fanfic virus has already infected your system beyond that which it is easy to be cured of. I'm afraid that you will have to concede that your life will now consist of writing scripts and story lines for a cast that will never act them for a show which as of next Tuesday will officially be defunct (not that it hasn't been fun while its been on of course!). You'll probably end up publishing them some fanfic site hosted from a server in an submerged submarine floating somewhere in the atlantic ocean so that they can host illegal porn sites as well without getting caught and dieing a painful horrible online death of 1000 paper-cuts when people start passing critics on your fanfic scripts and telling you that Willow would never use the word "phenomial" let alone in the way that you put it into your script!

But look on the bright side... you could publish your scripts here so that we can claim that we saw them first!?!?! :P

You could be the new J Michael stransinskyyyskyskyyyskey

Buffy of the rings
Lord of the Vampire Slayers
Buffy the Ring Slayer
Lord of the Vampire Rings

ohhh... the conitations that can come from that combination of shows!!!! *evil grin*

awwww... poor thing (wherever and whoever it is)... I feel so particularly sad at the moment over it that I might just have to start thinking up some more interesting sci-fi / fanatasy crossover titles to see how many people I can take out in one lousy sweep!!!

*giggles*

Well, I could. But then I'd have to shoot myself. Since no-one else has volunteered.

Actually, the fanfic serves a purpose.

See, this novel keeps trying to get me to write it.

I have the overall plot structure, thanks to dear old Joseph Campbell. And I want each individual chapter to read like an episode of The Office. Writing Buffy scripts, for my own private consumption, is a way of experimenting with character voices and group dynamics.

At least, that's my excuse.

(And yes, thank you, I am feeling better.)

You didn't happen to see my post from the other day (week or something) with a link to a newspaper story aptly titiled: Got a book inside??? Keep it there!
Not to say that you probably don't have a book inside, I just found it entirely interesting that someone decided to write an opinion column on it.... obviously was a slow week in their life...

Hey! I'm not just some scum off the street. I'm a published author.

If "published author" can be stretched to cover one short story (now cut in half) and an RPG supplement.

Except that only links to the first half of the story. All the spooky ghost stuff is missing.

Hm. Have to send them an e-mail.

Friday nights, at Blue Velvet on Smith Street.

It's more of a bar than a club. A place to drink and chat with friends. Not that stops them charging admission.
