So I started playing Sims 2...

...and now everything I do seems like part of a computer game.
Initial impressions? Well, I like the dress up doll part, where you design your Sims. And I like the idea of working towards your character's Aspirations. What I don't like is all the micromanagement. I'm so busy telling my sims to eat and sleep that they don't have time to work towards their life goals.
And in completely unrelated news...
I knew it. I just knew it.
Your iPod can kill you.
I told you Apple were evil.

Date: 2004-09-19 05:42 pm (UTC)I know, I'm not with the times... but my laptop won't play SIMS 2, and I figured I may as well find out if I LIKE the game before I spend squillions on the new one.
Now I need the makin' magic expansion. :-)

I think in SIMS 2 the default setting in the options section somewhere is to turn off intelligence for the sim. I can't remember what it's called exactly but it gives them a small amount of independant thought when the option is ON.
So give that a try and see what happens.
The downside is that when one particular sim of mine watches tv she'll always switch to a different channel no matter how many times I tell her to watch the yummy channel and gain cooking skills. *sigh*

And telling them to clean up each and every plate individually gets a bit tedious.

Date: 2004-09-20 04:40 pm (UTC)The reason I bought Sims 2 was because it was pushing the whole "play through all the important moments in your character's lives, from birth to death" angle. And that sounded pretty cool.
So far, the "important moments" seem to be my teenage Sim throwing a tantrum whenever I ask her to do anything.
But I do like the character creation bit. You can make Dark Willow.
Yeah, yeah, I know... But if I wanted a real game I would have bought Star Wars.

Date: 2004-09-21 05:25 am (UTC)But I do remember that after-Sims feeling, when everything is as if it's part of the game, and you wanna click on your housemate to make her clear the dishes away...
