Last night I dreamt I was painting ducks.

Not just any ducks. Charles Darwin's ducks. The ones he bred, and that inspired his theories of evolution. Each painting was a portrait of a  particular duck. Each painting also emphasised a particular evolutionary trait: the long neck, the pecten along the beak, the corkscrew shape of the penis.

I woke up in layers.

First layer: Hey. Cool. What a great idea. What a pity I don't paint.

Second layer: Hang on. Darwin didn't breed ducks. It was barnacles.

Third layer: Um. Why am I dreaming about painting ducks?

It took me a long time to answer that third question. Finally, I worked it out. I been listening to Amanda Palmer yesterday, and there's a line in one of her songs:

Art is great that way you can do anything
You can make pop music, you can paint ducks

Yes. This post is almost entirely content free. I bought Dragon Dictate the other day, and I'm just trying to learn how to use it.

My main problem with voice recognition software? I'm too self-conscious to actually use it.

Were they sinister ducks?

Never under-estimate the power of Alan Moore.
