Pattern Recognition
Oct. 31st, 2003 05:16 pmFinished William Gibson's Pattern Recognition today.
It's good.
I haven't read All Tomorrow's Parties. But with that disclaimer, I'd say Pattern Recognition is easily the best thing Gibson has written.
I've spent the last hour trying to write a witty, concise critique of the book. And failing spectacularly. This is happening more and more recently. I sit down to write, and am unable to make one idea follow the next.
When did this happen? When did I become stupid?

All Tomorrows Parties wasn't too hot, full of mixed pop cultural references and a poor effort at best to try and drag together Virtual Light and Idoru into a trilogy. Individual chapters were very good as short stories, but as a whole it lacked.
Still, I loved Idoru, and if Pattern Recoginition surpasses that, I'll look forward to getting my hands on a copy.
