I need a mobile phone.
Jul. 4th, 2005 12:20 pmI don't really want one. I didn't really like having one the last two times I had one. But the girlfriend has been hassling me to get a mobile phone, and I reluctantly admit it would prove useful.
So can anyone recommend a decent, cheap phone?
Pre-paid, probably. All it needs to do it voice and text. Although a decent contacts book (ie not just names and numbers, but also addresses) would be good.

They give me the shits.
(1) Get ADSL - no net contract problems.
(2) Deal. :)

Date: 2005-07-03 07:53 pm (UTC)For prepaid from telstra - I'd suggest the Nokia 3200. ITs a good littel phone - same as the one that
Optus only seem to offer the Nokia 3120 online (but there may be more instore)
All of the newer Nokia's offer storing of addresses and additional contact details on the phone's internal memory (in addition to the space on the sim which is phone number only) so either of those ones should do what you want, just depends on how much you want to pay and what other features you want. Might be worth checking the call rates and then popping into one of the stores for that company and having a chat to them.

Date: 2005-07-03 09:05 pm (UTC)You can get cheapies, relatively new, from eBay, if you're up for that sort of shenanigans. Or get a prepaid from pretty much anywhere - Aust Post, Telstra, K-Mart, etc.
I've had a few nokia's - I like them lots.
